How do you measure social media success in Twitter?
There are four different ways to measure your social media success in Twitter and gain social profit formula success.
Traffic. Measure the traffic that comes to your site from Twitter using a tracking system designed by the Social Profit Formula.
Followers. You can track the number of followers you have but most of the time it is not a clear indication of success because one can easily get lots of followers without people actually paying attention or taking action.
@replies. One effective way to measure Twitter success is by tracking the number of @replies. These are people who actually responded to your tweets.
Retweets. Probably the most valuable measure of Twitter success is the number of retweets that you get. These are people who forwarded your tweets and shared them with their followers.
What are Retweets?
When your followers retweet your tweets, they are essentially taking your message and forwarding it on to their audience. Retweets give you a way to reach a significantly larger audience.
Let’s say you have a thousand followers, and each of those followers have 100 followers. When each of your followers retweet your tweet, all of a sudden you have 100,000 people who could potentially be impacted by your tweets.
This is the magic of social media. Itís not simply talking to your followers; it is you talking to them and your followers sharing your messages on to other people.
Retweeting is done by attaching RT @username to the tweet. You can also use Retweet @username but that is not recommended as it uses up lots of precious characters. Twitter clients such as TweetDeck allow you to easily retweet Twitter posts with a click of a button.
Tracking your retweets
On your Twitter page you can view which of your followers retweeted you. Twitter tools such as MarketMeTweet and TweetDeck enable you to see everyone who retweeted you all in one place.
Another fantastic tool is Retweet Rank, which allows you to see where you rank in terms of retweet frequency.
You may want to check your rank every once in a while and see if you are improving.
How to get more people to retweet your messages
Here are five ways you can get more people to repost your tweets and share them with their audience.
- Post something that is worth retweeting. The greater the value you give to people, the more likely they are to retweet your message.
- Write scintillating copy. Your post may not be worth retweeting but if it is creative and written well, people will be more willing to retweet you.
- Educate your followers about retweets and how to do them so that they will be enticed to try it with your tweets.
- Thank people for their retweets. The Social Profit Formula has devoted an entire video module on the importance of thanking people for their retweets.
- Some people ask blatantly for retweets but it could turn off some audiences who may perceive it as begging out of desperation.
Start applying these steps and see your social media influence grow through retweets.
